Synopsis
So what is Symphony…?
Symphony of the Stars is a character-driven fantasy adventure/slice-of-life series I’m working on!
The plot primarily follows Harmony Esmeray. A young half-human / half-witch who leaves her remote village in the forest in search of adventure and to expand her surroundings. After a mishap, she finds herself in the kingdom of Crescentia where she not only encounters numerous friends and foes but makes a name for herself… as a thief. Some of said friends include Serenity and Mystery, there are plenty of other people to be met, but those are tales for another time…
Throughout the course of the story, not only does Harmony become a bit of a hero, but embarks on numerous adventures alongside her friends, not just Serenity and Mystery. All of which will test her resolve and push her to master both her magical abilities and the strengths of the bonds she has made!
Oh right, and Symphony will be a web-comic if you were curious! In the future I plan to post new chapters both on Twitter and here as well!
Themes of Symphony
The main themes one can garner from Symphony are the strengths our relationships give and perseverance.
Harmony and the rest of the cast have a surplus of challenges ahead. With some small and some otherworldly, the threats ahead grow more and more daunting, so it’s vital they learn to embrace the trials and tribulations life gives them and face them with a smile.
Speaking of, bonds are a key part of Symphony. Various types of love are present such as familial, platonic, romantic, etc. All of these, however, hold great merit and show that it’s the bonds we form in life that make life worth living and what helps give us the strength to look at the world and laugh at the challenges ahead.
Species of Symphony
In this world, three species exist: Witches, Demons, and Imps. As you can note from the demonstration, the main tells for each species are as follows.
Witches have pointed ears and a tail, Demons have upward-pointed horns, and Imps are much smaller with downward-pointed horns. Imps can also have multiple limbs such as multiple arms or multiple legs.
Also, if you’ve been paying attention, Harmony is half-human and half-witch, so you may be wondering. “Where in the world are the humans?” Well, there is only one human known, that being Harmony’s mother. As to why there is only one human…?
That is another tale for another time…
How does Magic work in Symphony?
The way magic works is that anyone can use base magic regardless of species when they put in the work, they’re not just born with magical capabilities. It takes a lot of hard work.
Eons ago, people used to use wands to conduct magic. Everyone now uses their hands to do magic thanks to gradual magical development and practicality. Harmony, however, does magic in a… unique way.
The way magic is scaled is by a system called “Acts”, with there being three levels.
Act 1: Consists of basic telekinesis and levitation. It’s this world’s equivalent to learning to ride a bike.
Act 2: With a tad bit more hard work, one can reach this Act, which allows you to perform elemental spells such as fire spells, water spells, wind spells, etc.
Act 3: The ultimate level of magic prowess attainable. This takes an abundance of blood, sweat, and tears to get to, but once you do, you can conjure magical abilities unique to them and their personality. Act 3 users are few and far between. While there are a few outside of Nightfall Academy, only three students in the whole academy have achieved Act 3. You can see for yourself who they are though…

While I do not own any of the songs present in either playlists, here are some songs to help capture of vibe of Symphony! Some songs may even have some secrets that may hold some merit in the future, but that’s a tale for another time…

Captain Cielo's Rat crew cannot speak, so whenever they wish to do shanties Cielo is the only vocalist. The rats instead make adorable little squeaks in tune to the song.
Ernesto, Xander, and Agatha were a trio of best friends since childhood!
Princess Marylyn calls Edric babygirl.
"The Quickster" is actually just a nickname. No one knows his actual name, not even the Professors of Nightfall Academy.
Dusk and Dawn can't lie for the life of them, despite being master thieves.
Lucky is my oldest oc to date, predating ANY of the main cast of Symphony.
Some of the biggest inspirations for Symphony include Kingdom Hearts, The Owl House, and Hooky.
Everyone in Symphony is at least somewhere on the LGBTQIA+, even if not outright stated. (Except for Daven Bays, he's the only straight guy in the entire universe).
Daven's hair is a wig.
Clair and Ronen have a nickname for Harmony, that being Songbird.
Captain Cielo’s a raging alcoholic.
